So what exactly is yoga?

Yoga is a balance of physical movement and postures (Asana), breath control (Pranayama), and mindfulness (being in tune to your body and the present moment). It involves both exercising your energetic movement whilst allowing yourself to be passive. Yoga is finding the middle ground between a busy lifestyle and taking a step back, which allows us to experience its benefits.

Yoga improves your physical, mental, and emotional health

Yoga has numerous benefits to the health of your physical body. A regular yoga practice may improve strength and mobility, coordination, posture,  blood circulation amongst other things.  These benefits can be seen across all populations, from young children to adults, from athletes to office workers, from those undergoing rehabilitation to the elderly population. Physically speaking, when practicing yoga under the guidance of a qualified teacher, the body’s transformation has the ability to amaze you.The mental and emotional health benefits of yoga are increasingly gaining awareness among society. The mental and emotional health benefits of yoga are increasingly gaining awareness among society. The stressors of life are difficult to ignore, and that is where the practice of mindfulness and meditation through yoga will help organize thoughts and re-energize the brain. When this practice becomes routine, it can help bring fluidity, clarity and control into your life. Yoga teaches you to connect inwards and explore where you are at, without being taken away by outer distractions. It is through this side of yoga that we can begin to see the change in our stress management and anxiety regulation strategies.
